The Haw Creek Community Association needs your help to make our neighborhood even better. Our committees are a great way to engage with the community around the issues that matter the most to you. If you would like to join one of these committees, please email us at

    • Maintain the beauty of Haw Creek
    • Facilitate regular clean up of common areas within the neighborhood
    • Identify additional areas for improvement
    • Activity examples include: helping to keep clean the rivers, parks, and roadways in Haw Creek, planting in common areas, enhancing the entrance to Haw Creek
    • Work with the City of Asheville and Buncombe County to bring positive change to our neighborhood
    • Facilitate neighborhood communication on issues important to and concerning Haw Creek
    • Activity examples include: reviewing the government policies and plans that affect Haw Creek, leading the response to those plans, attending meetings with government officials
    • Assist with outreach to the membership through newsletters, social media, and word of mouth
    • Provide support to the other committees, community partners, and the membership to promote the community events and news
    • Help to promote a positive image of both Haw Creek and the Haw Creek Community Association
    • Activity examples include: posting on social media, gathering information for newsletters, posting information around the community
    • Focus on the general needs of the community, including fostering communication, celebration, and collaboration among the members
    • Recruit and welcome new members and business sponsors
    • Help develop and cultivate new leaders
    • Encourage active stakeholders to engage in more meaningful ways in the neighborhood
    • Activity examples include: creating community surveys, acquiring new members and business sponsors, attending events
    • Work on quality of life, crime, and safety issues, including multimodal transportation and infrastructure issues
    • Activity examples include: supporting the work of the Asheville Police Department, identifying needed road improvements, identifying walking and bicycle safety options
    • Plan and hold social activities for the neighborhood to foster deeper connections and fun in the neighborhood
    • Activity examples include: planning events, such as community yard sales, pot luck meals, and National Night Out and identifying the potential for neighborhood clubs, such as chess, bridge, garden, and book club
